Bentley Unveils Torcal, Its First Fully Electric Model

London, 23 September 2026 — Bentley has revealed the all-new Torcal, the marque’s fourth model line and its first fully electric car, at a global debut in London.
“The Torcal is a Bentley first and foremost, created by hand by people who care, using the best available materials and technology to blend heritage with cutting-edge innovation. I believe this is one of the best Bentleys ever,” said Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser, Chairman and CEO of Bentley.
“For 107 years, Bentleys have been the most incredibly complete cars, effortless performance, outstanding comfort, exquisite British handcraftsmanship using the best natural materials and a soundtrack with soul. Our new Torcal sets extraordinary benchmarks in every area that matters,” he added.
Designed, engineered and built at Crewe and supported by a UK supplier network, the Torcal represents a significant investment in British manufacturing. It completes Bentley’s luxury of choice, adding a fully electric powertrain alongside the brand’s existing ICE and hybrid models.
Design: four “reads”, one Bentley DNA
Led by Design Director Robin Page, the Crewe design team built the Torcal around a philosophy of four sequential “reads”: proportion, graphics, surface language and detail.
- Proportion: a long wheelbase, short overhangs and an “endless bonnet” create the car’s powerful, “upright elegance” stance.
- Graphics: a face inspired by the Continental T, reinterpreted through an illuminated diamond grille and a rear “prestigious shield” first explored on the EXP 15 Concept.
- Surface language: minimal lines let sculpted surfaces, especially the powerful rear haunches, dubbed the “resting beast”, carry the car’s character.
- Detail: a recurring diamond motif runs through switchgear, textures and patterns.
Inside, the dashboard architecture remains inspired by the Bentley wings, paired with leather, wool, veneer and aluminium, knurled controls and reinterpreted bullseye air vents. The Torcal is also the first Bentley to carry the brand’s redesigned emblem, unveiled last year. The seats are all-new, with 16-way adjustment, heating, ventilation, adjustable bolsters, and a new massage function as standard. Optional Postural Adjust and Smart Seat Climate systems continuously adjust shape, heating and ventilation for long-distance comfort; the dedicated Wellness Seat Specification extends massage from the back and shoulders into the legs. The rear three-occupant seat gets a power-fold system a Bentley first.
Five wheel designs are offered: 21″ standard on the core car, a ten-twin-spoke 22″ standard on the S, plus three further optional 22″ designs, including an aerodynamic option, with summer, winter and all-season tyres available.
Performance true to Bentley’s lineage
The Torcal is powered by twin permanent magnet synchronous motors, dry-sump, oil-for-life designs with an open differential at the front and a locking differential with multi-plate clutches at the rear.
- Power/torque: up to 888 PS and 1,350 Nm, the highest torque of any Bentley to date
- 0-60 mph: as little as 2.8 seconds (0-100 km/h in 2.9 seconds)
- Battery: 192 lithium-ion pouch cells in series, 800V nominal, 113 kWh net capacity, covered by a 100,000-mile, 10-year warranty
- Chassis: Bentley’s first fully active suspension with adaptive two-valve dampers, eliminating the need for anti-roll bars; standard electronic All-Wheel Steering (up to 5 degrees) gives an 11.1-metre turning circle
- Brakes: iron system with 420mm front / 370mm rear discs as standard; optional Carbon Silicon Carbide (CSiC) ceramic system with 440mm front discs (jointly the largest in the world) and 410mm rear discs, in black, red or grey calipers (three further shades via Mulliner)
Built for everyday use
At five metres long, the Torcal is the shortest four-door in Bentley’s line-up, with a 460-litre boot plus 90-litre front storage. Range reaches up to 375 miles (600 km WLTP), with 10-80% charging in around 20 minutes at 400 kW — adding 100 miles (161 km) in just seven minutes.
A 25-strong array of radars, sensors and cameras powers the ADAS suite, including automatic obstacle-avoidance reversing, towing/garage/parallel parking assistance, trainable parking manoeuvres and remote parking via app. Four radar-controlled powered doors open and close automatically closing can be triggered by fastening a seatbelt, the touchscreen, or the driver pressing the brake pedal. A new Frosted Diamond switchable-glass sunroof rounds out the cabin.
A handcrafted soundtrack
Rather than an electronic engine simulation, Bentley recorded real drums, viola and bass guitar inspired by the beat of its 6¾-litre V8, to create the “Bentley Dynamic Symphony,” a human-performed soundtrack that responds to torque demand and speed, grows more prominent in Sport mode and can be switched off entirely. Even the indicator sound (a hammer striking leather, recorded in Bentley’s upholstery workshop) and the touchscreen chime (a crystal glass) were built by hand.
Audio comes via a standard 620W, 16-speaker system, or an optional 1,780W, 28-speaker system developed with Naim, featuring kinaesthetic seat shakers, front headrest speakers and Dolby Atmos 7.1.
Four moods, one cabin
Four Experience Modes tailor light, sound, climate and airflow: Bentley Mode (balanced and driver-focused), Comfort Mode (calmer, with an optional digital-detox display), Sport (immersive sound and sharper visuals) and Refresh (brighter light, increased fresh-air circulation). Curved OLED screens, facial recognition for driver profiles, a Mobile Device Key and an augmented-reality head-up display complete the technology set.
Sustainably sourced materials
Developed with Somerset weaver Fox Brothers, the Torcal introduces the world’s first 100% Merino wool automotive fabric also the first automotive wool certified to the Responsible Wool Standard. Two new Mulliner finishes debut alongside it: Ombré Walnut, built from up to 1,000 layers of responsibly sourced walnut off-cuts and recycled craft paper sliced to under a millimetre, in four shades; and Sunburst Aluminium, a three-way brushed reinterpretation of Bentley’s classic engine-turned dashboards. The colour palette spans 15 olive tan leather shades (including new Teal, Terra and Glaze), 15 matching Dinamica shades, Merino wool in five colours, six wood veneers, two technical finishes and six Piano finishes.
